COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Throughout this course stundents are introduced to the fundamental laws of the light propagation, basic optical elements, flud mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics, as well as elements of modern physics: quantum, atomic and nuclear physics. These topics set basis for the further understanding of more complex physical processes encountered on higher courses across different fields of electrical engineering.

WHY THIS COURSE?

Electronics and electrical engineering deeply originate in physics. This statement is proved by the fact that every fundamental discovery in the field of physics leads to new engineering ideas and technical solutions within few years. A good engineer understands physics underlying in some technical solutions, components and products, and is capable of choosing an optimal solution to some engineering task on his own, or as a part of the team. A modern engineer follows and understands innovations and new technologies and finds a way to implement them into the existing systems, so therefore he has to be flexible and able to learn from the fundamental principles.
